Abstract

The Economic and Social Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations established under the UN Charter, the Charter which is the statute of a World Organization conceived at Yalta, modeled at Dumbarton Oaks and adopted in San Francisco Conference on 26 June 1945. The Charter empowered the Economic and Social Council the tasks for promoting economic and social progress and better standards of human welfare as well as the observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms taking into account that progress in these fields is essential to maintain peaceful and friendly relations between nations. The “unfinished” ceiling above the public gallery, conceived by Swedish architect Sven Markelius, is commonly seen as a symbolic reminder that the economic and social work of the United Nations never finishes; there will always be something more that can be done to improve the living conditions of the world’s people.

About Us

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this: Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.) read more
