Abstract
The Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh enshrines ‘education’ is one of the basic needs food, clothing, shelter, education and medicine for citizens of Bangladesh. However, Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights describes education as a right. At present right to education has been recognized as a fundamental right across the globe. Deterioration of sexual harassment makes harder to enforce this right and acquire higher education for women. Like other higher educational institutions, Islamic University, Bangladesh is not free from this heinous phenomenon. Islamic University, Bangladesh has taken zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment. There is well organized and active sexual harassment prevention committee named as Complaint Committee in this university and this committee takes different kinds of necessary steps to reduce and prevent sexual harassment from this institution. This study aims to disclose the sexual harassment prevention policy of Islamic University, discover the effectiveness of the Complaint Committee and the level of awareness of students in this regard.
