Abstract

The prosecution service is essential for delivering justice in criminal cases. During trial, the prosecution presents criminal cases and develops justifications for convicting the defendant. Without the institution of prosecution having individuals who are deserving and committed as well as have a base of a well-structured professional training, no prosecution would be successful. In Bangladesh, this crucial issue of the justice system has been underdeveloped and mostly ignored. Its employment, training, and professionalism require special consideration in order to make it work in harmony with other institutions and be successful in producing positive outcomes. There are no set guidelines for appointing prosecutors and running their offices in the districts of Bangladesh. Although the prosecution service in Bangladesh is not well-organized or integrated, it is supposed to be independent. A successful prosecution system is characterized by high conviction rates, and it can contribute significantly to the emergence of the rule of law in the country. In order to establish an effective, efficient, and independent public prosecutorial service in Bangladesh, this article suggests some reforms.
