Abstract

In recent years the concept of human rights has become a very popular Issue for discussion and implementation and it has assumed a new dimension. Different governments and non-governmental organizations and human rights workers are highly concern regarding the deteriorating state of human rights at home and abroad. In fact, human rights situation has been worsening due to ethnic, religious, political, sex and language differences. Intolerance, absence of rule of law, hatred towards humanity, high political ambitions and above all, lack of respect towards humanity are hindrances against protection and promotion of human rights. Needless to say. violations of human rights are committed by human beings themselves and not by beasts or other animals, though mankind has been proclaimed by Almighty Allah, as Ashraful Mokhlukat’,’ i.e., best of all creations.
In this article I have ventured to find out the efforts so far taken internationally for the protection and promotion of human rights and to assess the success or failure thereof.
